How to include your family in your D7 or D8 visa application
One of the advantages of residence visas in Portugal is the possibility of including family members in the process. But beware: there are additional financial requirements and proof of family ties is required.
In addition to the minimum income required for the main applicant, the means of subsistence and monthly active/passive income must be added:
- +50% per additional adult.
- +30% per additional child.
Example: for a couple, the minimum rent in D7 is no longer €870 but €1,305/month. In D8, the amounts are proportional to the required income (€3,480 per month for the holder).

It is possible to include family members from the start of the application (visa for family members accompanying a residence visa applicant) or later, through family reunification. This possibility makes the moving process much easier for those who don’t want to face immigration alone.
Immigrating as a family is even more challenging, but also more rewarding. Financial planning and document organization are essential to guarantee security for all members involved.
