Portuguese Nationality
The processes of Portuguese nationality for grandchildren, children, spouses, de facto/partners, residents, Sephardic Jews, marriage, divorce and death transcriptions, and other procedures related to civil registration are governed by Law 37/81 of October 3.
In most cases the starting point is the birth certificate/assent of the Portuguese citizen. As a rule, people born after 1910 do not have their birth certificate computerized, so it is necessary to know the exact place of birth and other information to locate the document in the District Archives.
Dr. Vivian Perfeito has partners that perform research on birth certificates, supporting those who do not have all the necessary elements to locate them.
For people born after 1910, the birth certificate is usually already computerized, so it is easier to find it by consulting one of the civil registry offices.
Dr. Vivian Perfeito, since 2016, supports people to exercise their right to be Portuguese citizens and have their marital status updated before the Institute of Registration and Notary.
