Notarial Acts

The legislation in Portugal gives lawyers the same notarial powers as a Notary Public.

Thus, the lawyers enrolled in the Portuguese Bar Association can: recognize signatures, translate documents, authenticate photocopies celebrate the purchase and sale of an asset with or without bank financing, constitute a loan (mutual) with or without the constitution of a mortgage, formalize the transfer of loans between banks with the cancellation of the old mortgage and the constitution of a new one in favor of the bank to which the loan was transferred, constitute a mortgage, formalize the donation, sharing and/or division of common property that is in joint ownership.

Lawyers are also granted the legal authorization to draft private powers of attorney and to formalize extrajudicial notifications.
