Crediting of social security contribution time

Portugal has agreements with other countries, such as Brazil, in terms of social security contributions. Thus, the contribution time dedicated to one country or another can be counted for the purpose of granting benefits, on an equal treatment basis. The one for transferring the social security history is not automatic, and must be instructed with all the documents required by the pertinent legislation and presented to the Competent Authority. It is very important that the applicant has evaluated his plans for the future before making any decision in this regard.
